Production capacity for FlexiRamp increased by 30 percent
Last year, api expanded capacity at its production facility in the Czech Republic. A total of three new machines were purchased, increasing productivity by 30 percent while maintaining the same team size. At the same time, this has relieved the mechanics of heavy manual labor.
“With our expanded machinery, we can meet the steadily growing demand for our FlexiRamp,” says Miroslav Bartos, founder and owner of the api-Group, explaining this forward-looking investment.
Automated Trimming of Metal Sheets
A new Trumpf machine uses suction cups to pick up metal sheets from a stack and transport them to the cutting area. The machine then uses a laser to execute the preprogrammed cutting patterns fully automatically. Finally, the machine unloads the finished component—the basis of the FlexiRamp—and restarts the loading and cutting process. The precisely cut sheets are now ready for further processing.
The automatic loading of raw materials and unloading of finished components significantly speeds up production, as the manual loading process was very time-consuming.
Modern machines make the API mechanics’ jobs easier
The new Hass VF2 milling machine replaces an older model. It is significantly faster, more flexible, and more powerful. We use this machine to manufacture many of the parts for the FlexiRamp kits.
The third new addition is a Hass ST10 lathe. The api mechanics have been working with one of these machines for years. With the second one, the speed of turning parts is doubled. The Hass ST10 produces extremely precise and durable components that guarantee the safe and long-term operation of the FlexiRamps. It is designed so that one operator can run two machines simultaneously.
Better Working Conditions at API Headquarters
But api isn’t just investing to increase capacity and efficiency. It’s just as much about improving working conditions for employees in production and service. That’s why a new administrative wing has been under construction since this summer. The ten-person back-office team will feel very comfortable in the bright, modern spaces and will be able to work even more efficiently. The environment stands to benefit as well, since special emphasis is being placed on energy efficiency in the construction of the new office building.
